“us.” explores the aftermath of a broken relationship, filled with regret and longing. Abrams and Swift reflect on the intense connection they had with their exes, questioning if their exes miss the relationship as much as they do.
This is the first song that Swift and Abrams have written and collaborated on together, with two of Swift’s longtime producers, Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff producing the track alongside Swift and Abrams.
On May 14, 2024, Abrams revealed “us.” in an Instagram post along with the remaining song lineup. Unlike all other tracks on The Secret Of Us, “us.” wasn’t teased or performed live before being released. However, Swift may have hinted at the future collaboration in the music video for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone where she can be seen holding a book titled “us.”
Abrams made her debut as an opening act for the Eras Tour by Swift in Houston. They both performed “I miss you, I’m sorry” written by Abrams herself on Cincinnati. Abrams called the Eras Tour “the best experience of [her] life” while talking with Variety in December 2023.
