Junior Ranger Programs for July 2024 at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park

Great Falls –  First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park is continuing their Junior Ranger Programs during the month of July! After taking a hiatus for the July 4th Holiday, the Junior Ranger Program will continue on Thursday mornings at 10 am, July 11th, 18th and 25th.  

 

Join First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park for our annual Summer Junior Ranger Program. Registration is required and we are releasing sign-ups for the current month. More information can be found on our park Facebook page. Our sign-ups for August will be available starting the last week of July. To sign up for the July classes, call the park at 406 866-2217 with the child(ren)’s name and age for each class.

 

Classes are capped at 25 students and are offered each Thursday morning at 10 am. Parents or guardians must accompany their children for the classes. We will take a mid summer pause of the program for the July 4th Holiday. The Classes resume on July 11th

 

Our July Classes:

 

July 11: Native & Invasive Plants: Join Ranger Kimmy as she teaches Junior Rangers about the differences of native and invasive plants.  She will describe the affect they have on our ecosystem.  Junior Rangers will have the opportunity to plant and take home their very own native wildflower to care for. 

  

July 18: Yucca Soap:  Rub, a Dub, Dub, Yucca in the Tub. Learn about and make soap from Yucca Root!  Join Ranger Karlene on a fun filled activity of creating soap from the Yucca plant.  This plant has been used for generations to create soap on the plains of Montana. 

 

July 25: Solar Smores:  Join Ranger Fel as he shows how the power of the sun can be harnessed for a variety of purposes.  Junior Rangers will be able to create their own solar oven and make delicious smores!    

 

When: Thursdays, July 11, 18, and 25 at 10 am to noon

 

Where: First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park Visitor Center

 

The park is 3.5 miles north of Ulm, just off Interstate 15 at Exit 270.
