The time is right for Canadian exporters to set their sights on Japan. As mentioned by our Chief representative, Jean-Bernard Ruggieri, preferential market access provided by the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and opportunities in key sectors like #agriculture, #cleantech and more, Canadian businesses are well positioned to make their mark. ➡https://go.edc.ca/2u4cse ### C'est le moment pour les exportateurs canadiens de se tourner vers le Japon. International Cooperation - EU/Africa Kenya and the European Union signed a trade agreement, marking the first significant deal between the EU and Africa since 2016. The Economic Partnership Agreement guarantees Kenyan products duty-free, quota-free access to the European market, and tariff reductions for European products destined for Kenya. The agreement also includes commitments to sustainable development, environmental protection, and labor rights. The EU represents over 20% of Kenya's exports, mainly agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, tea, and coffee. The agreement aims to strengthen African economic ties to counter China's increasing presence and investment. #icws #cooperation #europe #africa #kenya #agriculture #environmentalsustainability #market #dutyfree #quotafree https://lnkd.in/eAuQmmC6

Bangladesh’s exports in key destinations – which include the United States, European Union and Germany – performed poorly in the first half of FY24 compared year-on-year, owing to persistent economic headwinds in both local and global arenas. Despite the setback, Bangladesh barely managed to retain its export earnings growth by 0.84 per cent, and earned $27.54 billion in the July-December period, considering overall exports to all destinations, show latest Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data. Exports could not retain growth in its single largest export region the European Union (EU), single largest destination country the USA, and third largest destination Germany, one of the largest trading partners India, key EU destination Italy, and North American country Canada. These countries and the EU region occupy more or less 80 per cent of Bangladesh’s export share. A report is written by Arifur Rahaman Tuhin bhai. 🚀 The sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai saw $78.41 billion in tentative deals for purchases of goods and services, a record high and an increase of 6.7% from last year - showing significant potential for trade in China post-covid. And why does it matter for Africa? 🙌 China remained Africa's largest trading partner over the past decade. Official data show that bilateral trade grew 11 percent to 282 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. The 1.4 billion Chinese consumers present a valuable market for Africa to tap into as well. 📕 And Chinese government is actively creating policies and additional avenues like CIIE to support imports from Africa as well, including the bi-annual China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha and a "green channel” that has been established to facilitate the importation of African agricultural products. 🌾 Since the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit, 25 agricultural products from 14 African countries, including Kenya, South Africa, Benin, and Egypt, have gained entry into China. China stands as the second-largest destination for African agricultural exports, with an annual average growth rate of 11.4%. This underlines the commitment of both regions to fostering mutually beneficial trade relationships. 🤝 At Pyxis, we are excited to navigate China-Africa trade with you as your trusted partner in payment. Let’s create more possibilities together! #ChinaEcommerce #Double11 #LiveCommerce #CIIE2023 #GlobalExpansion #PyxisInsights #ChinaAfrica

Vietnam is quickly becoming the new Asian business center. Canada's export credit agency (EDC), Export Development Canada | Exportation et développement Canada, announced last week that it will open a new representation in Ho Chi Minh City this fall to offer Canadian exporters and investors what they need to break into this fast-growing market. Perry Gill, CEO of CNC Industries and an EDC customer, says, “We turned to Vietnam more than ten years ago, and today, it is the pillar of our activities. We discovered that this market has a lot to offer: it is easy and safe to do business there, the highly qualified workforce is there, English is increasingly fluent, and technology is not a hindrance to business. Its proximity to other Indo-Pacific countries makes it the perfect hub of activities. This aligns with Vietnam's commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, creating opportunities in sectors like clean technology and renewables. Our collaboration with EDC underscores our dedication to sustainable growth and global expansion. Stay tuned as we continue this exciting journey! https://loom.ly/AaK3TF8
