Join Us in Celebrating International Plastic Bag Free Day (3 July)🌍 On International Plastic Bag Free Day, we are shining a light on our effort to create colourful joys of life in a sustainable manner for our guests at Shangri-La. In 2023, our usage of single-use plastics per room night reduced by 41% compared to 2019. It is an everyday effort across our operations to remove disposable plastics – many guest rooms feature filtered water taps and reusable or recyclable bottles; at our restaurants and kitchens, we stop using fully plastic takeaway containers, cutlery and straws. Our colleagues around the world have led many creative initiatives to care for our environment and communities. One example is at the Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul where our teams collected plastic bottle caps and traded them with local recyclers for wheelchairs for those in need. Beach cleans and litter picks are other regular activities at our hotels to keep plastics out of local ecosystems and protect our seafronts.
