🌊BHA Pumped Storage Hydropower Event: Amazing Success!🌊 Yesterday, we hosted our Pumped Storage Hydropower event, bringing together everyone interested in PSH in one place! We were delighted that the newly appointed Secretary of State for Scotland, Ian Murray, took the time to be our keynote speaker to reaffirm the new governments commitment to Pumped Storage Hydropower as part of the Long Duration Energy Storage plans. The event was a great success, hearing from lawyers, engineers and everyone involved in looking to make PSH a success for the UK. 📣 Latest developments for our expansion plans at Cruachan: We’re pleased to share that we’ve appointed global technology and engineering firm, Voith Hydro, to move forward our plans to build the UK’s first pumped storage hydro scheme in 40 years. The proposed 600 MW underground plant, which received development consent from the Scottish Government last year, would be constructed underground adjacent to our existing Cruachan facility. Voith Hydro has been appointed to complete a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study for the Mechanical and Electrical components of the design - a major milestone for the project. ⚡ Increasing the UK’s pumped storage hydro capacity is critical to enabling more renewable power to come online, strengthening the country’s energy security whilst helping the UK to decarbonise. 🌊BHA Pumped Storage Hydropower Event: Investing in future grid security🌊 On Thursday 18th of July, the British Hydropower Association will be hosting a one-day PSH event for anyone interested in the potential for investment within the Pumped Hydropower Storage Sector. With the Cap and Floor price stabilisation mechanism expected to be open in 2025, this event is a great opportunity for investors to hear from key players within the sector. Hear from developers looking to progress towards final investment decision, contracting and supply chain mobilisation. There will be four sessions throughout the day: 1. Policy and arrival of the Cap and Floor 2. Development in the UK 3. The Global picture 4. Pumped storage is the new show in town. It is very inspiring to attend the board of International Hydropower Association (IHA) in Abuja, Nigeria 🇳🇬. Pumped storage will be our main focus in the year to come. The global market for pumped storage as battery for solar and wind is fast growing with China 🇨🇳 and India 🇮🇳 in the lead. International Hydropower Association is planning an important conference on pumped storage in Paris 🇫🇷 and we will work on derisking these investments. International Hydropower Association will also expand its outreach through new regional offices in cities like Jakarta, Chennai, Abuja and more.
