The Youth are the future: let's work with them!

À propos

Life Project 4 Youth Alliance is a federation of 17 organizations in 14 countries whose aim is the development of innovative solutions for the professional and social inclusion of Young people (17-24 years old) living in extreme poverty and victims of exclusion. Our 3 missions: - ACCOMPANY the most excluded Youth thanks to a tested pedagogy and ecosystem allowing them to find sustainable jobs on their own and to be socially included in the decent world. - CAMPAIGN with young adults coming from extreme poverty to offer concrete, grassroots solutions addressing inclusion issues and give them a platform. - ENGAGE all initiatives in favor of young adults in danger by sharing the expertise acquired, counselling, creating Youth inclusion networks, offering services and training. We know from experience that when we develop these three LP4Y missions simultaneously and evenly across a single ecosystem, there is a measurable increase in sustainable inclusion of marginalized Youth. 👉 During the 61th UN Commission for Social Development, the NGO Committee, which LP4Y is part of, is dedicated to raising awareness on the Priority Theme and bringing the voices, experiences, and recommendations from the grassroots. The NGO Committee held a Civil Society Forum, which one of the thematic sessions was about “Working Toward Concrete Solutions for Marginalized Young People Facing Unemployment.” For most marginalized youth living in poverty, their work does not mean earning a living wage. It means exploitation, very low pay, and forced layoffs. This panel showed how work should enable youth to live in dignity and be recognized as useful members of society. Sherlyn Caasi, Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y) graduate, is an example of success. She worked as a call center agent in Alorica and is today coach herself leading a LP4Y program in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. She shared a testimony and precious inputs on this panel on February 10th. Listen to her!

LP4Y develops various programs to support young marginalized people towards their complete inclusion. Today, we present you the Green Village 🌱 Welcoming between 40 to 60 Youths, Green Villages offer them a 600-hour residential training (3 months) in rural areas. Once they join the #GreenVillage (GV) program, the Youths learn how to handle 4 to 6 micro-companies managing the day-to-day life in the center and serving the local community, with a strong focus on #sustainability. These micro-companies concretely train the Youths to manage a restaurant, a digital center, organize events, create a sustainable ecosystem within the GV, etc. During the program, the Youth also develop skills such as: ✦ Soft skills: Leadership, teamwork, time management, critical thinking, public speaking and creativity ✦ Hard skills: English, IT and communication tools Supported by 2 to 3 Coaches, the Youths spend 3 weeks in job search at the end of the training. They also benefit from 3-month support for employment once the program is over. Today, LP4Y has 6 Green Villages: 1 in Lebanon, 2 in India, 1 in Nepal, 1 in Bangladesh and 1 in The Philippines… and soon a new GV in Indonesia! #YouthInclusion

As we continue to explore LP4Y pedagogy, let’s dive into the micro-company! Rooted in a "learning by doing" approach, the micro-company is a professionalizing pedagogical tool that allows Youth to gain a first positive professional experience while cultivating essential interpersonal skills. Tailored to each local community's needs, these micro-companies offer training to the community on topics such as health (hygiene, nutrition, menstruation awareness), sports, basic computer and English knowledge, and access to decent employment. To determine their micro-company focus, Youth conduct community surveys and make strategic choices based on the responses. They then develop training content and activities aligned with the chosen focus, enhancing their knowledge and translating materials into one or more local languages. Each week, they engage with potential community members through face-to-face or phone sessions. On training days, they manage attendance, handle customer interactions, and hone their presentation skills. Post-training, they maintain customer relationships by promoting upcoming sessions. This dynamic tool not only empowers Youth with practical skills but also fosters strong community connections. If you live near an LP4Y center, visit us during community training and witness the Youth's transformational journey as they lead these sessions! #YouthInclusion

If you are familiar with LP4Y, you probably already heard the words “Training and Development Center”, or “TDC” in its short form. But do you really know what happens in a #TrainingAndDevelopmentCenter? Today is your catch up session! Welcoming between 30 to 45 Youths, TDCs offer a 1,000-hour training (6 months) to young marginalized people living in urban areas. Once they join these centers, the Youths learn how to manage a micro-company serving the local community. A 2-week internship is also included in the program. During the program, the Youth develop the same skills as in a Green Village (both soft and hard skills). Supported by 2 to 3 Coaches, they spend 1-month in job search and benefit from a 3-month support to employment at the end of the training. Today, LP4Y has 18 Training and Development Centers in the world: 1 in Bangladesh, 5 in India, 2 in Indonesia, 1 in Lebanon, 1 in Myanmar, 1 in Nepal and 7 in The Philippines (including 2 in jail). 👉 Catalysts and Youths would be happy to show you around, contact us if you wish to organize a visit! #YouthInclusion
