Steve pulled the SOS latch on his Blackline G7 connected safety device, and the device's two-way communication connected them to an SOC agent who dispatched emergency help to their location within seconds. We had the privilege of celebrating Matt and Steve at the first Blackline Safety Impact Awards ceremony, where they received the prestigious Community Hero Award. The Community Hero award is presented to an individual, or individuals, in recognition of their bravery and dedication to the safety of people in their community. Steve and Matt, field technicians with Columbia Gas of Ohio, had just finished a routine maintenance call. Matt was completing paperwork in the truck while Steve was cleaning their tools when suddenly they heard panicked screaming. A mother was calling for help because her child wasn’t breathing. We take great pride in the life-saving work we do at Blackline Safety, ensuring that workers can do their jobs safely and return home unharmed.
There are days when you just can't wait to get to work. Yesterday was one of them. I had the absolute honor of attending Blackline Safety's first Community Hero awards presentation in Columbus, Ohio. Donnovan Simon and I traveled from Calgary to recognize Matt Overcasher and Steve Manypenny, Columbia Gas of Ohio employees, who saved a life when they used their G7 device to get emergency help for a child who wasn't breathing. Thanks to their quick thinking and heroic actions, the child made a full recovery. In honor of Matt and Steve, Blackline Safety and NiSource, Columbia Gas's parent company, made a $10,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. I am so filled with gratitude for Matt and Steve. A child is alive because of them. I feel so lucky that I get to work for a company that's not only making a difference in the world with our technology, but that also realizes the importance of recognizing and honoring the frontline workers who are protecting their communities. Thanks Dennis Heckathorn and Mark Heckathorn for making the trip to support this amazing program. #BlacklineSafety #CommunityHero #ImpactAwards #SafetyFirst #EmployeeRecognition #LifeSavingEfforts

Matt Overcasher and Steve Manypenny, utility field technicians, were on their way home from work last summer when they heard frantic screaming from the mother of an 18-month-old struggling to breathe. Using quick thinking, they pulled the emergency SOS latch on their cloud connected Blackline G7 device and were able to get medical help dispatched within seconds. The device’s built-in GPS location technology meant the ambulance driver knew exactly where to find them. Thanks to Matt and Steve’s heroic actions, the child got the help they needed and made a full recovery. Yesterday, we presented these two incredible NiSource employees with the first Blackline Safety Community Hero Award! 🏆 Our devices protect over 165,000 workers worldwide, but stories like this show that the protection extends to people and communities the workers serve. Join us in celebrating these exceptional individuals for their bravery and for looking out for others in their community! Read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/gykPaiyv
