This classification mandates stringent requirements to ensure safety and efficacy. AI systems in medical imaging will need to demonstrate compliance with these requirements before they can be marketed or used in the EU. This means enhanced transparency, rigorous testing, and thorough documentation to ensure these systems are reliable and safe for patient use. 🔜 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐈𝐭 𝐁𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞? The AI Act will come into effect on August 2, 2026. However, providers of general-purpose AI models that have been placed on the market before this date must comply with the obligations by August 2, 2027. 👨⚕️ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬? • 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬: All AI system providers and developers must meet the high-risk category standards. They must also implement comprehensive documentation, ongoing monitoring, and clear accountability for the AI system’s performance and safety. • 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: They must check whether the AI systems used are compliant with the AI Act. They must verify that the certification exists and review the latest information on the system’s performance and any issues.   • 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: The Act is designed to improve and make AI system safety and reliability more transparent to patients.
