The FOX 17 News' Code Red Weather Alert has expired across the Midstate.

---------------------------

FOX 17 News is in a CODE RED Weather Alert on Wednesday as heat index values head into triple digits across the Midstate.

High temps will head to the upper 90s, while heat index values will climb to 110+ in some spots around the Midstate.

A cold front will sweep through tonight, bringing a few isolated showers and a temporary end to the excessive heat.

Heat index values fall back to the low 100s for Thursday and Friday, before building back up to dangerous levels for the weekend.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for parts of west Tennessee in our viewing area.

Other than a stray storm in Wednesday evening, we won’t get much relief from the afternoon heat.

We’ll see temperatures and humidity drop slightly for Thursday, but more heat comes later in the week and into the weekend.

Friday is expected to be a little dry and the heat and humidity is expected to return across the Midstate this weekend.

Temperatures return to near 100 degrees for Friday through Monday, with heat index valuing more than 105.
