Wilson County Schools announces relocation plans after tornadoes tear through buildings

Wilson County Schools announced plans to move forward after destructive tornadoes tore through their buildings.

Two schools received major damage on March 3, forcing them to shut down for the entire year: Stoner Creek Elementary and West Wilson Middle School.

Two other schools will be affected by the new changes: Mt Juliet Middle and Springdale Elementary.

These schools will operate in four-hour sessions to accommodate students.

New Hours of Operation:

  • Stoner Creek Elementary: 6:25 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
  • Springdale Elementary: Noon to 4 p.m.
  • Mt Juliet Middle: 8 a.m. to noon
  • West Wilson Middle: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

These new changes will come with transportation changes that parents must register/sign their students up for. Email caldwellj@wcschools.com

Changes to affect every school in the district:

  • All field trips and Farm Days cancelled, except:
  • Athletic trips and academic competitions
  • Special Olympics and Career Day

Additionally 45 buses were damaged in the storms and repairs are underway.
