A Middle Tennessee man is suspected of arson after he allegedly confessed to authorities that he set fire to a property in Beech Bluff.

Caleb Avery, of Gibson County, is facing charges of arson and vandalism after he confessed to agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) that he set fire to a house in the 300 block of Cotton Grove Road.

The TBI says Avery originally spoke to investigators when they came and inspected the scene of the fire. He told them that he was living in a tent on the property, which the owner of the property confirmed. It was later in the investigation that Avery admitted to setting the house on fire.

On Monday, TBI special agents charged Avery with arson and vandalism over $1,000. Avery is in the Henderson County Jail on $5,000 bond.
