Mt. Juliet Police arrested a convicted felon Monday in the parking lot of a sporting good store.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old who they say was looking to buy a laser/light combo attachment for his handgun that had been stolen from a car in Nashville in April.

An officer in an unmarked vehicle and a witness who called 911 both observed the man waving the gun around as he walked through the parking lot, Mt. Juliet Police report.

Officers made the arrest around 7 p.m. in an Academy Sports parking lot following the reports of reckless behavior.

The man was previously charged with evading arrest, for which he was out on probation for at the time of this arrest.
