Question HP 14-dv1629na on off on off.........

Hi.

My HP 14-dv1629na suddenly wouldn't boot and just goes in a constant on/off state every 2/3 seconds. Even a forced shutdown does not turn it off. I have to physically open the laptop up and disconnect the battery.

The battery charges fine when I plug the DC connector in.

So far I've tried reflashing the BIOS with a programmer which changed nothing. I have no short circuits that I can find + I used a thermal cam.

Any ideas?

Is the power button sticking or loose/not working properly?

The button is 100% working. All been tested.

I took the keyboard off and shorted the the pins on the keyboard connector and it still alternates between off and on. Tested by measuring voltage at the 5v and 3.3v coils.

Does removing the battery and just using the AC adapter change the behavior?

Tried both combinations. Does the same on either. It's a motherboard fault but I just need someone to talk me through where to check.

Replacing the motherboard may be your only real option.
