Youtube Search Issue in ATV

Okay, having a weird issue with the search function in YouTube on the AppleTV. Basically, if I either use voice via phone/iPad/iPhone or type via the iPhone/iPad in the search bar in Youtube, the search typing will just stop and the search will just reset back to a blank space.

If I do the manual typing using the ATV remote, it works just fine. Any ideas what could be going on?

Oh and this is on a 1st gen ATV 4K.

Yeah, I think so too. I've tried un/reinstalling the app and resetting the ATV, looks like I'm stuck with the issue for the time being.

Problem solved for me after the tvOS 17.4 update.

Same issue here. If I force close YouTube after attempting a voice search - when I reopen YouTube the search result is there. Trying 17.4.1 beta now to see if it’s any different. Not holding my breath.

I was just about to post a new thread about this. I can't believe how such a big and annoying bug like this still hasn't been fixed. This search via iPhone Remote App feature has been broken for a while now. It's gotten to the point where I just have to input my search query in segments, then resume typing from where it prematurely jumped off. 3 or 4 tries to get one search term entered. Insane.

I also hate the layout and behavior of the ATV YouTube app. Why can't the page just populate and have a layout similar to the official YouTube site? The constant horizontal scrolling, limited suggestions, and a refresh button that does nothing but bring you back to the top. Also, for some reason, the video algorithms are way more aggressive on the ATV app. I used a 'Brown Noise' video to fall asleep 3 nights in a row, and now my suggested videos are 90% related to brown, pink, white, etc., noise videos. You'd think this would mirror the YT site which seems to have far less aggressive algorithms. Assuming this is a Google issue, since it's their app for ATV, I just wanted to vent out here.

Bug still exists for me, also. It almost feels like they’re intentionally not fixing it to take the shine off the ATV 😆.

Funny you should post this, after not searching in ATV for a while, just last night as I was trying to make multiple searches the text box kept dropping with every few characters and I again said to myself, how the hell is something this widely used so blatantly broken and still not fixed? I now use the Notes app on my iPhone to type a search query then paste it into the remote app text box. Kind of ridiculous, but it saves time and aggravation.
