This is a good introduction to the Sportsdeck format for anyone unfamiliar with it.

There’s no budget in this game, the only restrictions being the number of players you can pick from any one team (which increases during the knockout stages), the number of transfers per round, and the total number of transfers through the whole competition.

The game operates on a rolling lockout basis; players only become locked into your team when their country plays, irrespective of whether they themselves feature. That means you can make the following changes throughout the round:
  • Nominate different captains and vice-captains. Captains get double points. Vice-captains get double points if your captain doesn’t play. There’s a strategy to maximise that by utilising your vice-captain first. If they do well, nominate a non-playing player as your captain. If they do badly, you get a second chance with your captain.
  • Alter formations.
  • Swap between your first-team players and your bench.
  • Make transfers.
During the first round, you will be able to make unlimited transfers until your team becomes locked in.

You get one automatic sub per position, although it depends on what formation you play as to whether you will have cover on your bench should a first-team player not make an appearance.

Select ‘? Help’ (top right-hand corner) and ‘Back to all Help & Game Info Topics’ for the full game guide.

The game is aimed at Australian and New Zealand residents, although those living in other countries can sign up, but they won’t be eligible for the small prize fund. If you do live outside those countries, you can leave the postcode section blank.
