Robyn Denholm has one of the wildest jobs in corporate America: being Elon Musk’s boss. Tesla named Denholm chair in 2018; she succeeded CEO Musk in the role, and at least on paper, he reports to her. Her position has become even more tenuous since Musk bought X, formerly Twitter, and poured his attention into the social platform. Some analysts have argued that Tesla’s board needed to rein in Musk, yet shareholders reelected Denholm to a three-year term in May. The Australian, who previously served as CFO of telecoms giant Telstra and network equipment manufacturer Juniper Networks, is also an operating partner at Blackbird, the venture capital firm. In July, she joined the board of one of the companies Blackbird has invested in, Sydney-based AI health care startup Harrison.ai.
