In the year through September 2023, Inditex’s share price rose by more than 50%, defying any previous predictions that Ortega, the youngest daughter of Inditex’s founder, hasn’t got what it takes to run the world’s biggest fast-fashion company. With Ortega at the helm, the retail giant, which owns the Zara, Bershka, and Massimo Dutti retail chains, among others, posted a net profit of $2.7 billion (€2.5 billion) for the six months through July 31, beating analysts’ forecasts. What’s more, Inditex's stock surge this year has erased the sharp dip that occured after Ortega was named chair in November 2021. Company shares are now trading at levels not seen since the summer of 2017.
