Appointed president of NYSE Group in January 2022, Martin has quickly made her mark at the firm that oversees the more than 200-year-old New York Stock Exchange. Under Martin’s leadership, NYSE facilitated Corebridge Financial’s initial public offering, the largest in the U.S. in 2022. NYSE also landed one of the biggest IPOs of 2023 when Kenvue listed on the exchange in May. Before she took the reins at NYSE, Martin worked for the exchange’s parent company, ICE, as president of fixed income and data services. Martin is only the second woman ever to lead the New York Stock Exchange. She began her term at NYSE as a market correction sent U.S. stocks spiraling; major indexes such as the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones industrial average fell 20% and 9%, respectively, in 2022. Yet Martin and NYSE have pushed ahead as markets have rebounded slightly and initial public offerings trend upward in 2023. Looking to the future, Martin is working to increase the use of AI, including with ICE Chat, a large language model tool used to help traders make more informed and efficient transactions.
