A veteran investment banker who helped sell Twitter to Elon Musk for $44 billion, Kim Posnett got a big promotion in May at Goldman Sachs, where tech and media deals are some of the biggest and most prestigious business. Posnett, a Goldman partner since 2016, is now head of Goldman’s Global Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) group—making her one of only a few women overseeing such an investment banking division at a major Wall Street bank. Goldman doesn’t break out TMT revenue within its global banking and markets division (which brought in $32.5 billion in 2022 revenue), but Posnett's influence is broad: She oversees 400 people (300 bankers and about 100 others) and has a track record of advising (and bringing in fees for Goldman) on high-profile and high-price tech IPOs and M&A, including for Etsy, Bumble, and Pinterest. Posnett also continues to co-lead the One Goldman Sachs initiative, the bank’s effort to increase communication between different client-facing lines of business.
