One of fewer than 10 women leading a FTSE 100 company, Crew took over the British multinational beverage company earlier than expected in June 2023 due to the illness of previous CEO Ivan Menezes. Crew, however, was no newcomer to the beverage company; she previously served as head of business in North America and chief operating officer. Under Crew’s leadership, the Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff vodka maker ended its 15-year partnership with music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs, after he accused Diageo of racism and of neglecting to market his tequila and vodka brands. (The drinks maker denied allegations.) Nevertheless, the company continues to strengthen global ties and partnered with leading British supermarket Waitrose to introduce unique areas in 253 supermarkets across the U.K. for low-alcohol and alcohol-free drinks. The partnership intends to meet growing demands for consumers wanting to reduce their alcohol consumption.
