Abdelrahman ElGendy


Abdelrahman ElGendy is an Egyptian writer and journalist who was a political prisoner in Egypt from 2013 to 2020. He is a Dietrich fellow at the University of Pittsburgh’s Nonfiction Writing MFA program and a Heinz fellow at the university’s Global Studies Center. He was a 2021 Logan nonfiction fellow and a finalist for the 2021 and 2023 Margolis Award for Social Justice Journalism. He is currently writing a memoir about his incarceration.
