1. General Policy

The policy of Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC) is to respect and protect the privacy of our users. To fulfill this policy, FLIC agrees to exercise reasonable precautions to maintain the confidentiality of information provided by you in connection with accessing and using this website (the “Site”). FLIC also agrees to post prominently and in plain language its specific privacy policies. FLIC does not collect personal information about individuals except when specifically and knowingly provided by such individuals and does not sell or otherwise share personal information to any third parties except in the limited circumstances described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Collection and Use of Personal Information

FLIC uses the Site to provide a means for individuals to sign up to become a member, to receive our newsletter, or to volunteer, to sign petitions or participate in other actions, and to make donations supporting our work.  FLIC also uses the site to promote its activities and events and to provide information about its issue areas.  To access certain features of the Site, you may be asked to provide certain personal information such as your name, email address, street address, and phone number.  We use this information to send you emails or text messages to update you on our events and activities.

Information that you provide on the Site is processed by EveryAction, and we encourage you to review the EveryAction Privacy Policy.  FLIC will not share your information with any other vendors or with any third party besides other non-profit organizations working in coalition with FLIC.

In addition to your personal information, FLIC may also collect standard Web server traffic pattern information generated by your use of the Site. General traffic, site usage, and length-of-stay information may be collected and stored in log files for the purpose of improving the user experience. This type of information is shared externally only on an aggregated basis.

3. Additional Disclosure to Protect People or Property or As Required by Law.

In addition to the disclosures otherwise permitted by this privacy policy, FLIC may disclose personal information if we have a good-faith belief that doing so is required by a subpoena or other judicial or administrative order or otherwise required by law. Additionally, FLIC may disclose personal information where we, in good faith, deem it appropriate or necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) the rights or property of FLIC, any individual, or the general public; maintain and protect the security and integrity of our services or infrastructure; protect ourselves and our services from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses; investigate and defend ourselves against third-party claims or allegations; or assist government enforcement agencies.

4. Cookies

Visitors should be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected on the Site through the use of “cookies.” Cookies are small text files stored as text on a computer’s hard drive. Web Site can use cookies to recognize repeat visitors, facilitate the visitor’s ongoing access to and use of the site, and allow a site to track usage behavior and compile aggregate data that will allow content improvements. FLIC uses cookie technology only to obtain non-personal information from its online visitors in order to improve visitors’ online experience and facilitate their visit within our site.  In addition, third parties, including Facebook, may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive specific types of information and use that information to provide targeted ads.

We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the Site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to the Site. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve the Site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit these sites, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personal information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit a site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

If a visitor does not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows the visitor to deny or accept the cookie feature. You can choose to prevent FLIC from establishing a unique user-ID.  FLIC recommends that you visit any of the commonly available Cookie FAQs on the Internet to learn more about this.

5. Links

The Site may contain links to websites and resources maintained by other individuals and organizations. FLIC is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content on any of these other web Site. Note also that the linked Site may collect personal information from you when you link to their site and that this collecting of information is not subject to the control of FLIC. To ensure the protection of your privacy, always review the privacy policies of the Site you visit by linking from this Site.

6. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. We never collect or maintain information at the Site from persons we know to be under age 13, and no part of our Site is designed to attract anyone under age 13. Please do not communicate with or contact us if you are under age 13.

7. Security Statement

In an effort to safeguard your personal information, FLIC takes all reasonable precautions to protect the information provided through the Site or otherwise in its possession.  Nevertheless, despite our best efforts, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure.

8. Effect of Future Changes to this Privacy Policy

FLIC reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time.  However, we will not apply any new policies to any of your personal data collected under an old policy without contacting you at the email address you provide and giving you the opportunity to opt-out of any use of your data under the changed policy.
