Can’t make it out to an event? No problem! We provide free virtual assistance to individuals who would like to apply for citizenship but are unable to attend our in-person events. You can begin the application process at our Citizenshipworks portal at your own pace and request legal assistance once it is completed; or come to our scheduled virtual events for help.

Requirements

• Be a national of a country designated for TPS, or a person without nationality who last habitually resided in the designated country; 
• File during the open initial registration or re-registration period, or you meet the requirements for late initial filing during any extension of your country’s TPS designation 
• Have been continuously physically present (CPP) in the United States since the effective date of the most recent designation date of your country; and 
• Have been continuously residing (CR) in the United States since the date specified for your country.

The adage “knowledge is power” is certainly true when it comes to protecting your rights. first and most importantly, Know Your Rights, and be aware that regardless of your immigration status, you have constitutional rights.

We also offer Know Your Rights (KYR) info sessions. These sessions are designed to provide comprehensive and practical insights about your constitutional rights, regardless of your immigration status. If you believe that your community could benefit from one of these information sessions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are committed to ensuring that everyone is informed and protected.

We get many requests for legal assistance to support immigrants who are detained in Krome, Broward Transitional Center or the Glades County Jail. Remember, we are not lawyers and cannot provide direct legal assistance. However, if you text or call our Hotline at 1-888-600-5762, our team will provide referrals as needed.

The FLICopedia connects you with resources, legal assistance, and provides more information about your rights. The ACLU also has an extensive library of “Know Your Rights” materials to help Floridians understand their rights and react effectively when their rights are under threat.

We understand that financial barriers still exist, as many of our neighbors cannot access financial aid FAFSA. However, immigrant students can (and are encouraged to) seek support from private scholarships. There are thousands of private scholarships out there that you can apply for.

Filing Form I-765 with USCIS is the first step toward obtaining or renewing your EAD. Given recent changes, individuals with certain immigration statuses or pending cases now have an automatic work permit extension for up to 540 days, providing valuable additional time and peace of mind. If you or someone you know needs to apply for or renew an EAD, our services offer a helping hand. With complex forms, changing regulations, and new fee structures that took effect on April 1, 2024, navigating the application process can be challenging. However, you don’t have to do it alone. We provide free services to assist you with your EAD application, ensuring you have the correct documents, complete your application accurately, and adhere to the updated procedures and timelines.

Through our ‘New American Voters’ program, we help Legal Permanent Residents to become engaged U.S. citizens and active voters. Our initiative also helps communities by offering training and support to organize their own citizenship clinics.
