Celebrating Black Stories: The Tee-shirt Tales Project by Julia O
a gallery curated by Flickr
February is Black History Month and each week we’re highlighting the work of some of the amazing Black photographers on Flickr. This week, we invite you to explore an album curated by the talented photographer, Julia O, and read the inspiring story behind it. "I read t-shirts" "I have a passion for photography overall, but Teeshirttales is an on-going project I wish to expand. I love meeting new people, and hearing their stories. In many cases I've also gotten a chance to learn something. Teeshirttales explores the reasons behind why people wear and/or create t-shirts. This project started when as an adjunct professor I began photographing and interviewing students of mine. It is now an on-going project as I love meeting a variety of people on the street and at different events I attend and I notice the tee they are wearing. I believe there is a story behind every tee, and that is what I seek to explore. I find it fascinating that one can convey a message without saying a word." - Julia O,
