The fashion brand Diane von Frustenberg (DVF) has announced their new collaboration with Lenzing Group, who produce speciality fibres. The purpose of this collaboration will be for DVF to use Lenzing’s Tencel and Ecovero fibres within its designs, so that their clothes can become environmentally friendly and can showcase greener manufacturing and responsible choices within the fashion industry. The article below depicts a new collaboration which has been created in order to help a fashion brand become more sustainable. The aim is for the clothing brand to be better for the environment, whilst simultaneously looking appealing to consumers. Towards a Transparent and Responsible Production 🌱 Blåkläder is leading the way in sustainable workwear with our commitment to the Oeko tex – Made in green label. Nearly all of our garments are produced in factories we own, many of which are LEED certified, ensuring energy efficiency, water conservation, and reduced carbon emissions and improved working environment. Our CEO, Anders Carlsson, stated: "From a business perspective, it’s unthinkable for us to sell clothes without transparent and responsible production. The fewer garments manufactured, the better it is for the environment and climate, so the most important thing for us is to make clothes that last." By the end of this year, we aim to have half of our products labelled with the Oeko-Tex Made in Green label, with a goal to label our entire range in the near future. This label guarantees that our garments are tested for harmful substances and produced in environmentally friendly facilities under safe and socially responsible working conditions. https://lnkd.in/dZibWbs8

#greentransition - sustainable textile fibres are no longer a distant dream. Research projects are turning trees into textile – and old textile into paper. In the Gothenburg suburb of Mölndal, research institute RISE has a test bed for textile fibre development, where researchers are exploring methods and materials to produce fibres, yarns and nonwoven fabrics from bio-based and synthetic raw materials. In a not too distant future we might wear jeans made of Swedish cellulose, activewear made of bioplastics and T-shirts made of recycled fabrics. Learn more: https://www.ri.se/en TreeToTextile – owned by H&M Group, Inter IKEA Group, Stora Enso and LSCS Invest – is focused on developing the use of cellulose. The company aims to commercialize a new sustainable textile fiber, making it more widely available. A new technology, TreeToTextile, produces bio-based textile fibers with a low environmental footprint, i.e. wood. In addition to exploration and developing new mines, we must address losses. Employing our technology can help concentrators recover fine valuables otherwise lost in conventional beneficiation. The circular economy buzz is everywhere, but many companies still struggle to turn talk into action. 🔄🤔❓ In order to truly transform, companies must envision what a circular business model would look like. This means thinking beyond recycling rates - just imagine how manufacturing processes, revenue models, and product or service design would change. A few aspects worth considering: 1️⃣ It's difficult to implement circular economy practices if we haven't identified what they could be. Shifting from product sales to services could be a start. 2️⃣ Is your idea feasible? As an example: Self-driving cars for monthly subscriptions is a great idea, but the tech still needs work. 3️⃣ What societal attitudes or habits still need to change? Think clothing rental - the tech is there, but is the demand? 4️⃣ Does law support or hinder? Tax-free land filling in Finland impacts recycling's profitability. 5️⃣ Maximize the potential across the entire value chain. The EU's Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles is paving the way for a greener, more competitive sector. 🌱♻️ The strategy, part of the European Green Deal, addresses the environmental impact of textile production and consumption. With textiles ranking among the top contributors to environmental degradation, urgent action is essential. Key objectives include making all textile products durable, repairable, and recyclable, minimizing hazardous substances, and promoting social and environmental responsibility throughout the supply chain. Actions outlined in the strategy range from setting design requirements and introducing digital product passports to tackling overproduction and greenwashing. Inspiring meeting with Member of Parliament and leader of the European Movement Norway Heidi Nordby Lunde today. Heidi and Monika Hestad discussed how companies will be challenged to think more holistically about their design processes going forward. The EU has recently adopted an ecodesign regulation, which introduces new requirements for product durability, reusability, upgradability and reparability. Monika has the past year and a half worked on a research paper, in her part-time position as Professor of Design Management at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design , on the EU’s ecodesign regulations, how this affects the design processes and leads to the introduction of digital product passports (DPP). DPP provides transparency throughout the value chain and product lifecycle. The main impression is that the EU’s ecodesign regulation is positive for Norwegian companies, as they already produce high-quality, long-lasting products. We entered directly into their impressive work putting together an action guide together with the Exponential Roadmap Initiative. Cutting emissions and reducing nature impacts from materials in your value chain is a complex task, and many organizations are putting a lot of effort into this matter. Getting a systematic approach can sometimes feel overwhelming.
