NATO military base will be forward stationed / centered on 🇸🇪 Sweden Gotland - geopolitical reinforcement and fortification of the Baltic Sea against 🇷🇺 Russia! Sweden‘s accession to NATO is of highest strategic importance and of critical effects based value for the Atlantic Alliance. Containment of Russia in the backyard of the Baltic states should be great news and relief for the benefit of Northern European security and stability. Just wonder whether some smart actions against enemy lines of communications might be launched to prevent countermeasures by Russia 🇷🇺 and Belarus 🇧🇾 and force posture into Oblast Kalingrad through Suwalki gap. That tiny strip will remain of strategic significance and should raise western attention over next months. Increased pressure might be exerted on Bundeswehr (German Federal Armed Forces) to deploy reinforcements to Lithuania 🇱🇹; that in turn would not allow for extended time ratio to establish combat/war readiness for the bulk of forces still undermanned and ill equipped. And for sure: the building of Kindergarten and cosy wellness facilities must not be a pre condition for critical military security measures; to the opposite should those peacetime desk plans be neglected for the benefit of soldiers and their families. Germany 🇩🇪 seems to be a safer place for noncombatant personnel - in the meantime…. Disclosures: Built up and transition phase to any operational readiness in place will be of critical importance and require OPSEC and coverage. No further data and activities should be released or published henceforth. I limit myself to this geopolitical intent from NATO/national perspectives. Should any opponent and bad counter measure be revealed through social media channels, those are good to go public. Militaryleak
NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) concluded its two-week anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare exercise Dynamic Mongoose 24 in Reykjavik, Iceland, May 10. Led by Commander, Submarines NATO (COMSUBNATO) in Northwood and hosted by Norway, the annual exercise brought together Allied ships, submarines and aircraft in the cold waters of the Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom (GIUK)-Norway Gap. Units from Canada, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States converged for the highly complex maritime exercise that kicked off April 29 in Stavanger, Norway. This year, for the first time since its accession on March 7, Sweden participated in the exercise as a full NATO member nation, bringing the advanced technology and stealth of one of its Gotland-class submarines. Sweden last participated in Dynamic Mongoose in 2015 as a NATO partner nation. As units transited toward Iceland, MARCOM’s exercise control team presented units a series of challenges that increased in complexity. These included tactical communication tasks from seabed to space, maneuvering drills, and shallow-water operations near the Faroe Islands. The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United States provided submarines for the exercise. The submarine crews took turns hunting and being hunted, switching roles to maximize training opportunities for all crews. By working together, the exercise improved interoperability and understanding among crews, increasing readiness. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/dq4nFiJ3

360iSR belives in relevant, realistic training. As part of our NATO joint ISR training, we run a scenario called exercise CLANCY. One serial revolves around the rehabilitation of a Russian island about 10nm off the Estonian coast. Once the Russians inhabit the island, they claim full international waters, thus restricting freedom of movement in the Baltic Sea and compromising Estonian sovereignty. It seems the training we provide once again prepares operators for the complex environment in which they need to understand at tempo. If you want training that prepares you for now and tomorrow, come and talk to our experts. Sweden brings industrial might to NATO. The 32nd member nation's history of self-sufficiency resulted in deep investments in industrial capacity, and from 2020-2024 its defense budget has doubled. "Sweden not only operates a fleet of submarines but it also designs and builds them — as it does its frigates. It produces the Gripen jet fighter. It develops and manufactures military-grade vehicles, early airborne warning radars, artillery systems and a host of small arms and munitions. It manufactures satellites and will soon host the only launch pad capable of sending rockets to orbit in Europe." Hopefully NATO membership will deepen Sweden's industrial ties to other partner nations as military cooperation continues. #defenseindustry https://lnkd.in/eyuHKgst

Helsinki Security Forum - HSF
🔎 What can Europe learn from the Finnish model of total defence? We discussed the topic with Ambassador Klaus Korhonen for his #HSF Interview. National security is not an easy export product. However, there are certain practices and principles that can be shared. After the Cold War, many European countries moved to professional armed forces, and now they are again very interested in the Finnish conscription system. 🌐 There are multi-faceted challenges and needs to be dealt with on the road to achieving a cohesive total defence strategy for Europe. It is important to prioritise, Korhonen says. "Right now, the first priority is to support the defence in Ukraine." Read the full interview ➡ https://lnkd.in/dJe-scUm Helsinki Security Forum brings together international experts for discussions on pressing topics of international security. The theme for #HSF2024 is "Towards a Total Defence of Europe - From Apathy to Action". Learn more on our website. #comprehensivesecurity #totaldefence #Ukraine

Thrilled to share my recent interview where I discuss Zero Trust and cybersecurity. It was a wonderful experience reflecting on my journey and insights in Zero Trust. Let’s all do our share and improve our security posture by regularly updating our home routers, computers, and phones. After all, we don't want to serve as a launching pad for the next big security breach. I hope you find it as enlightening as I found the discussion. Feel free to share your thoughts and feedback!

In February, Patria announced agreements to deliver Patria ARIS electronic intelligence (ELINT) systems to two European NATO member states. These systems harness the next-generation receiver and signal processing technologies developed by Patria, says Kalle Martikainen, Director, Intelligence and Surveillance at Patria. “These new customers will be provided with the latest version of our ultra high-performance signals intelligence system. It will be adapted to the needs of the countries in question,” Martikainen says. Patria ARIS collects data on the adversary’s fixed surveillance radar installations and mobile radar systems such as those used in ships and aircraft. The system can also be used to search for a variety of weapon systems. Axios: “Helsing raises $490 million to protect NATO countries near Russia” 💥 💫 The Big Pic: we have already known that Helsing raised ~ $0.5 billion. The aim to protect NATO countries near Russia is the big headline. 💫 Why it matters: it is another sign that Europe countries are getting prepared for an armed conflict on Europe soil. Maybe in the next 5-10 years as was written in Sifted. 💫 So what: While #VCs searching for #DefenseTech, governments increase their defense budgets to build capacities. 💫 The momentum enhances all the partners. 💫 Some examples and “ defensetech early adopters”: ⚡️ Accel the first investor in Helsing ⚡️ General Catalyst invested in Anduril Industries and led the last round of Helsing ⚡️ More leading investors in the field: Elad Gil, Saab Lightspeed Plural, Greenoaks, Greylock, Andreessen Horowitz 💫Dive deeper: https://lnkd.in/dRpJJx-9 by Dan Primack #innovation #startup #ai #startup #defense #technology #dualuse

The Unconventional Soldier Podcast
"The most reliable, flexible and effective form of target indication was, and still is, provided by the trained OP soldier operating deep in enemy territory" - Maj Gen ACP Stone CB The podcast started telling the story of the Royal Artillery "stay behind" ops of the Cold War founded by Gen Stone. Over the last few years I've had a few discussions on the relevance of the above statement and the continued relevance of this type of dismounted operation. The contemporary utility of long range recce is the subject of this German article on which you can use Google translate: "...the use of long-range reconnaissance is essential. Reconnaissance by human sensors is irreplaceable even in the age of drones and satellites. On the one hand, technical reconnaissance means reach their limits due to enemy countermeasures or for other reasons." https://lnkd.in/ethSYum3

𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤 – 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞-𝐨𝐟𝐟 The military conflicts in focus today between Russia and Ukraine, but also the mutual air strikes between Iran and Israel, make us unmistakably aware of the extent and necessity of our own ability to operate in the electromagnetic spectrum. The ability to conduct airborne electronic warfare is considered an indispensable capability for the assertiveness of our own air forces. Recognising the crucial role of EW, HENSOLDT has focused on developing a high-performing system for Airborne Electronic Attack, known as #KalaetronAttack and being able to detect, deny, degrade, disrupt, destroy, and deceive over multiple threats of modern integrated air defence systems simultaneously.

“Norway, as one of the Host Nations for NATO Exercise STEADFAST DETERRENCE 2024 (#STDC24), supports the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) with a response cell, replicating the operational and the strategic level. Role players from the Norwegian total defence concept, including the Police and the Directorate for Civilian Protection (DSB) add important value to the overall complexity of the exercise. Furthermore, focusing on the Nordic region, cooperating alongside Sweden and Finland adds new perspective and issues for the ARF and NATO to consider. NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy (NRDC-ITA) is well prepared and with JWC facilitating the exercise, the ARF is given maximum value from all the opportunities presented. COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE - Question: I am not a Maritime Lawyer - however, if they are Dark Fleet tankers, can they not be seized and held according to Maritime Law, Piracy, Illegal Contrabrand ? An interesting inspection to ensure Nautical Safety and Security.., if correct, have they not be known to sail with Navigation turned off?
