𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰! Today, let us celebrate World Marine Aids to Navigation Day by highlighting the important role of marine aids to navigation in enhancing the safety of navigation worldwide. The first celebration was in 2019 after it was unanimously decided to establish this observance. Sabik is proud to play a vital role in supporting navigation safety with marine lanterns, but aids to navigation does not end there. It comprises buoys, day beacons, lights, radio beacons, as well as fog signals.   Our team is looking forward to joining this year’s celebrations in Genoa, Italy: https://lnkd.in/ekRbZcCv   #WATONDAY #Sabik #weshowtheway #SPXAidstoNavigation #IALA #Marine #maritime #marinesafety #lighthouses

This week, our lighthouse journey takes us to the Cabo Corrientes lighthouse in Mexico. Cabo Corrientes is a cape on the Pacific coast of the Mexican state of Jalisco, marking the southernmost point of the Bahía de Banderas (Bay of Flags), home to the port and resort city of Puerto Vallarta. This prominent navigational landmark has been featured on the earliest cartography of the region and is often referred to by cruising sailors as Mexico's Point Conception. In 2020, the lighthouse was equipped with our VRB-25 LED rotating beacon. This high-intensity beacon is suitable for ranges up to 25 nautical miles and is an ideal replacement for traditional Fresnel lenses in historic lighthouses. The VRB-25 LED is extremely energy efficient and can be monitored remotely, making it perfect for locations requiring high-intensity lighting and digital oversight. 𝗪𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆... whether it's to a bustling port, through a narrow canal, or to a nest full of little ones. These osprey parents were captured navigating back to their nest atop the Idskärskubb lighthouse, located north of Hitis in South-West Finland. The nest, and the lighthouse of course, is equipped with our LED 155 lantern. 📷 by Jarmo Vehkakoski --- 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘺, 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘸𝘬, 𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘸𝘬, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘩𝘢𝘸𝘬, 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭, 𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩-𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘺. Standing 32 meters high, this lighthouse was inaugurated on August 29, 1968. It is situated in international waters off the eastern archipelago of Stockholm, serving as a critical warning for a nearby shoal. In 1993, the lighthouse was upgraded to operate on solar power, enhancing its sustainability and efficiency. The latest update involved replacing the previous LED350 lanterns, which, while still functioning flawlessly, were approaching the end of their recommended lifespan. Seeking a reliable, low-maintenance solution, the decision was made to upgrade to our recently launched M44 lantern. In addition to the lantern upgrade, there was a requirement for efficient monitoring and maintenance capabilities. To meet this need, the LTE-M unit was mounted onto the product. This addition ensures seamless remote monitoring and maintenance, particularly beneficial given the lighthouse's location far from the shore. This comprehensive solution not only extends the operational lifespan of the lighting system but also enhances its efficiency and ease of management, perfectly aligning with their needs for both performance and convenience.   𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔44 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. In celebration of World Aids to Navigation Day on July 1st, followed by official festivities in Italy on July 2nd and 3rd, we are dedicating the entire month of June to lighthouses! As we begin this series, we are excited to showcase the historic Russarö Lighthouse, known as "The Eye of Hanko," located on Russarö Island near Hanko, Finland. Built in 1863, this octagonal lighthouse is one of Finland's oldest, operating even in winter due to the year-round open Port of Hanko. Crafted from bricks and mortar over a granite base, the red tower with a natural stone base boasts a beautiful, vaulted ceiling on the top floor. While day cruises to the island are available in summer from Hanko's Eastern Harbour, the tower itself is closed to visitors due to its dilapidated condition. In 2021, Russarö Lighthouse was equipped with the Sabik SLU-36 to minimize the need for frequent maintenance. This upgrade was particularly significant given the lighthouse's proximity to a military base, where access and operations must be carefully managed. The Sabik SLU-36 provides reliable and efficient illumination, ensuring the lighthouse continues to function effectively while reducing the necessity for regular service interventions. This modernization aligns with both the preservation of the lighthouse's historical significance and the operational requirements of the surrounding area.
