Diana Puukki, who completed her master's degree in energy and environmental engineering did her thesis for Meyer Turku. In the thesis, solutions were investigated for the life-cycle emission reductions of the ship's main galley. 🍃 The results of the thesis revealed that the most emissions can be reduced with alternative fuels and by optimizing systems and improving energy efficiency. 🖊 Before her master's degree studies, Diana studied mechanical engineering. Meyer was already familiar as a work environment for her, as Diana has previously modeled cabins and surface materials in the interior design department. Diana is also planning for a future in shipbuilding. Her goal is to continue working on building climate-friendly ships. 🛳 🗨 "Meyer is attractive as a place to work, because very unique ships are made here. In June we received two brand new shipyard transporters. These vehicles are typically driven as a pair, with two of them being attached side by side. Together they are almost 24 meters long and 11 meters wide. The max load for the combined vehicle is over 1000 tons and it has 144 wheels! The transport vehicle is powered by a 625 hp engine, which propels it to a maximum speed of 13 km/h (4,5 km/h under load). These impressive vehicles are needed, so that blocks, which are parts of the ship, can be transported under the crane and then lifted into the dry dock. #MeyerTurku #Shipbuilding

Christening of #MeinSchiff7 in Kiel Bay” 👏🚢 🎉 The #MeinSchiff7 was christened by godmother Fenia Kalachani in the Bay of Kiel. An inspiring spectacle of drone shows and fireworks 🎆 crowned the new ship in the Mein Schiff fleet. 🛳   The guests on board and the Mein Schiff fans on the waterfront promenade were thrilled by the fantastic images drawn into the night sky.   Wybcke Meier CEO of TUI Cruises, officially opened the christening of Mein Schiff 7 on the pool deck. There were live acts on the pool deck for the grand finale, where plenty of goosebump moments were created. After the christening, the #MeinSchiff7 set sail on its voyage to Norway.   We wish everyone on board an unforgettable journey. 💙

Two weeks ago we delivered Mein Schiff 7 to TUI Cruises. Building cruise ships is a collaborative effort, and at the end almost 2000 people were actively working on the ship. Have you ever wondered what managing a huge project like a cruise ship is like? MS7's Project Manager Noora Maunila gave an interview to Turun Sanomat, in which she talked about the responsibilities of management and how she balances her work and personal life. In the interview Maunila, also an avid sports player, describes that managing a project like MS7 is a bit like being a team leader in sports, and results are achieved as a team. Mein Schiff 7 has been delivered to TUI Cruises on Monday morning 10.6.! "Mein Schiff 7's symbolic start of production, the steel cutting ceremony, took place at our shipyard on June 14th, 2022," says Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku, "We are very proud to have delivered Mein Schiff 7 to TUI Cruises today, less than two years later. This was made possible by our long-standing and close cooperation." "Receiving this ship is a special moment for us. Ten years ago we acquired our first Blu Motion class ship here in Turku, and by 2019 we had built a total of six vessels. We would like to thank the Meyer Turku shipyard for the excellent cooperation and the development of our well-being fleet. We are now sailing on Mein Schiff 7 to Kiel, where we will welcome the first guests aboard on June 12th”, says Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.
