Suspect Arrested in Baltimore for Double Homicide

MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 13800 block of Lee Highway, 8/22/21, 9:34 p.m. A man slashed the victim with a knife on the upper body after a dispute in the parking lot. He was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 7900 block of Richmond Highway, 8/20/21, 2:53 p.m. A man confronted the victim in the parking lot, assaulted him with a knife then ran away. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.
ASSAULT ON A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER: 8300 block of Richmond Highway, 8/20/21, 11:13 p.m. Officers responded for complaints of a man acting disorderly. When the man saw officers, he threw a glass bottle shattering it on the ground in front of him and ran away. After a short foot pursuit, Donte Glenn, 37, of Alexandria, was taken into custody. During the arrest Glen assaulted two officers and he was charged with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, littering and drunk in public.
UNLAWFUL DISCHARGE/ASSAULT ON A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: 5975 Richmond Highway (Red Roof Inn), 8/21/21, 1 a.m. Officers responded for reports of loud noises and glass breaking coming from a room. When they arrived, Antonio Jones, 39, was discovered alone inside of a room. Officers learned that Jones shot off several rounds causing significant damage to the room. He was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment. While at the hospital, Jones assaulted an officer. He was charged with reckless handling of a firearm, two counts of destruction of property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, possess firearm while protective order in effect and assault on a law enforcement officer.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 7910 Richmond Highway (Walmart), 8/22/21, 9:47 p.m. A man attempted to exit the store without paying for merchandise. When an employee attempted to stop him, Jaime Vasquez-Chavez, 20, of Alexandria, displayed a knife and took the goods. Officers arrested Vasquez-Chavez nearby, he was charged with robbery.
VEHICLE PURSUIT: Richmond Highway at Fort Hunt Road, 8/23/21, 2:12 p.m. An officer attempted a traffic stop of a 2008 Honda for a registration violation. The driver sped off through a red light. The officer utilized a PIT maneuver to quickly stop the car from fleeing and the driver, Tshibangu Kalamba, 28, of Alexandria, was charged with disregarding police signal to stop.
ROBBERY: 8600 block of Westwood Center Drive, 8/24/21, 5:27 a.m. The victim agreed to meet an acquaintance in a hotel room. After a dispute, a man entered the room, displayed a knife and took property. No injuries were reported.
SHOOTING: 3500 block of South Jefferson Street, 8/20/21, 2:15 a.m. Officers responded to the reports of a shooting in the parking lot and discovered several cartridge cases on the ground. A short time later, a man was dropped off at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body. The investigation revealed a man approached the victim in the parking lot and shot at him. The man fled in an unknown car. This does not appear to be a random act of violence.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING: 4900 block of Lincoln Avenue, 8/25/21, 9:38 p.m. Officers responded for the report of a man screaming for help in the parking lot. Officers found the victim who had been shot in the upper body. He was transported to a hospital for injuries not considered life threatening. This does not appear to be a random act. Detectives responded to continue the investigation.
RESTON DISTRICT STATION
BANK ROBBERY: 11100 South Lakes Drive (BB&T Bank), 8/24/21, 9:58 a.m. A man entered the bank, forcefully grabbed the manager and demanded cash. The man left the area on foot. No injuries were reported. Through surveillance video, detectives identified the suspect as Benjamin Garrett, 31, no fixed address. On August 26, Garrett was arrested in Richmond on unrelated charges and also charged with two counts of robbery. He awaits extradition back to Fairfax County.
CARJACKING: 6100 block of Franconia Road, 8/25/21, 8:03 a.m. A man approached the driver of a 2020 Ford transport van in the parking lot, displayed a gun and stole the car. No injuries were reported. Through video surveillance, detectives identified the suspect. On August 26, Douglas Whitley, 38, of Washington DC, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department. He remains in custody at their sixth district station and waiting to be extradited back to Virginia. Whitley was charged with carjacking. The black 2020 Ford transport van which has Peloton written on the side as well as the contents inside have not yet been recovered.
WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
UNLAWFUL DISCHARGE: 9200 block of Lake Braddock Drive, 8/21/21, 2:30 a.m. The homeowners were asleep when they were awoken by what sounded like a gunshot. Officers arrived to find damage to a ceiling inside of the home. Cartridge cases were found at the scene. No injuries were reported.
BURGLARY/SEXUAL ASSAULT: 4500 block of Commons Drive, 8/24/21, 10 p.m. A man entered a home through an unsecured door, assaulted a woman, and ran. He was described as a man in his 20s with a tan complexion, possibly Hispanic, 5’6”, skinny and was wearing a black t-shirt and black pants with a white stripe on the side.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY: 9511 Blake Lane (7 Eleven), 8/22/21, 11:53 p.m. A man entered the store, assaulted an employee and took property. No injuries reported.
