Personal bio
My research looks at systems of competition within and among organizations. We see around us great differences in rates of success and failure among people, products, and organizations ? often with these patterns unfolding within systems of competition. My current work looks at innovation, competition, and organizational growth in a variety of industries worldwide. I reveal how systems of competition favor merit and privilege in different combinations depending on context. New logics of business are appearing in different parts of the world economy, especially where meritorious effort is rewarded. Meanwhile, vestiges of privilege continue in many places, stifling innovation and competitiveness. My work shows that we are mid-game in an ongoing evolution of competition worldwide.
