John Krasinski hosts Some Good News holiday special with George Clooney, Dwayne Johnson, and more

Surprise — John Krasinski's Some Good News is back!

The actor returned for a holiday edition of his popular web series, and like always, there were plenty of cameos from A-list stars.

Krasinski began the show on Sunday by going over fan art, including a picture of himself that he thought resembled another celebrity.

"Perhaps it was the internet's not-so-subtle hint that it would much prefer to have this show hosted by one Justin Timberlake," he noted.

Cut to the actual Timberlake — "I'll do it," the singer told Krasinski without missing a beat.

And because it was the holiday special, the Jack Ryan actor put up some Christmas decorations and dressed up for the occasion, before continuing to share inspiring news from around the world.

That was followed by a weather report from some unknown figure, perhaps a newcomer in the meteorology world... George Clooney!

"Looks pretty good, looks pretty good," he shared, after popping his head up.

The best part of the episode, however, came when Krasinski pulled in Dwayne Johnson, who traded in his "The Rock" persona to become "Dwanta Claus" this season (complete with a "Dwanta" hat). The two surprised Jay Abel, a widowed single father who was selling his favorite collector items on eBay to pay for his children's Christmas gifts.

He won't have to do that anymore because Johnson told him, "I want you to take all of your stuff off of eBay because Dwanta Claus is going to take care of all of that stuff, man."

He then offered to fly Abel out to California after the pandemic was over to visit him at the DC Universe. Johnson, who is starring in the upcoming Black Adam film, shared that he was going to bind and sign his copy of the film's script and send it to Abel.

"You represent so many parents around the world who are going through the struggle this Christmas," Johnson said. "That is why my good buddy John and I called some of our elf friends to see if they're able to help some other families just like yours all around the world."

Johnson and Krasinki also announced that FedEx, a sponsor of the show, is donating $5 million to the Toys for Tots.

The sweet segment closed off what is likely the last Some Good News of 2020, after Krasinski began sharing uplifting stories in March to help people in the pandemic. To help, he recruited the likes of Steve Carell and his other Office castmates, Oprah, Billie Eilish, his wife Emily Blunt, and more famous faces.

In May, it was announced that Krasinski sold the show to ViacomCBS and won't be the main host of the new incarnation, but he would stay involved.

"We have a lot of really fun stuff planned, and I can't wait to dig in," he said. "I'm gonna be a part of it whenever I can, and I'm gonna host a couple [episodes] and bring on a different community of people."
