Get the first look at new, bloodthirsty Claudia in Interview With the Vampire season 2 sneak peek

There's going to be a new Claudia when Interview With the Vampire returns, and she's more bloodthirsty than ever.

AMC released the first look at season 2 of the TV adaptation of Anne Rice's novel at New York Comic Con on Thursday, and the photo and video reveals Delainey Hayles' debut as she takes over the role of the teenage vampire previously played by Bailey Bass in season 1.

In the sneak peek scene, Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia are brought to an estate by Santiago (Ben Daniels), the leading vampire thespian of the Theatre des Vampires. As his coven of vampires eagerly takes over the mansion, feasting on the humans inside, Claudia gleefully takes part in the bloodbath. However, Santiago and Louis remain outside to get to know each other better instead, and Santiago's suspicions of Louis are already on full display — particularly when it comes to his reaction when the name Lestat (Sam Reid) is mentioned.

After playing Claudia in season 1, Bass exited the series due to "a variety of unforeseen circumstances," she shared in a statement on Instagram. "Playing Claudia has been a dream role and an incredible ride. I wish Delainey Hayles the best of luck in taking over. I cannot wait to watch."

AMC called Bass a "talented actor who did a remarkable job" in the role of Claudia in a statement. "We are grateful for Bailey's unforgettable performance in season 1 and wish her nothing but the best."
