Killing Eve renewed for season 4

Killing Eve has yet to come forth with its third season, but you can already count on a fourth.

BBC America announced on Friday that it has renewed the critically-admired spy thriller starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer for season 4. Season 3 is slated to premiere this spring.

Two months ago, EW reported that seven cast members had been added to the series, including Game of Thrones alum Gemma Whelan, along with: Pedja Bjelac (Harry Potter), Camille Cottin (Call My Agent), Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9), Raj Bajaj (A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding), Turlough Convery (Ready Player One), and Evgenia Dodina (One Week and a Day). No intel was shared about how these actors’ characters would fit into the alluring, line-crossing world of psychopathic assassin Villanelle (Comer) and talented-yet-inexperienced MI-6 operative Eve (Oh). The network had previously announced that Dame Harriet Walter (Succession) and Danny Sapani (Harlots) had also joined the cast.

Season 3 also brings a new head writer/executive producer, Suzanne Heathcote (Fear the Walking Dead). Confirmed returning cast members include Fiona Shaw and Kim Bodnia.

The upcoming season of Eve will need to address a hefty, bloody cliffhanger that adorned the season 2 finale, which saw Villanelle shoot Eve and walk away. After the spring finale, Oh told EW: “How can you come back when you said ‘no’? How can you come back when you really know the truth about someone? Honestly, I’m trying to figure out: how does Eve come back to any of her life? I don’t know yet. We’re going to work that out.” Months later, Comer teased the upcoming action: “It’s that thing of: You believe someone’s dead, then you live with the fact that someone’s dead and then they’re not,” says the actress. “How do you come back from that? How does that change your relationship that you once had? Does it? Is there a new opportunity? Is there a chance or is there a need to finish what you did?”

Killing Eve saw significant ratings growth in season 2, which aired on both BBC America and AMC. It was was nominated for nine Emmys last year, with Comer claiming the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series trophy. The series heads into Golden Globes weekend with a nomination for best drama as well as an acting nod for Comer.
