Watch Penn Badgley contemplate New York versus Los Angeles during EW's digital cover shoot

As YOU fans know, Joe Goldberg loves a voiceover. So when it came time to shoot EW’s digital cover with YOU star Penn Badgley, it only made sense to play off the show’s use of voiceover … but with Badgley’s voice.

EW came up with the concept: Badgley walking through the set of the shoot while discussing life in New York and Los Angeles, otherwise known as Joe’s two homes. EW wrote a rough script, but it wasn’t until Badgley arrived on the day that it all came to life. Badgley quickly added his own lines to the script and worked with EW’s producers to make sure the walk-and-talk was as seamless as possible. The result is a more upbeat voiceover than YOU viewers are used to, but one that pays homage to the show.

Joe might think Los Angeles is the worst city in the world, but as Badgley says in the video, it’s also where he meets Love.
