The Shadowhunters series finale will be even longer than we thought

Shadowhunters might be ending, but it’s going out with a massive finale.

During the second annual Freeform Summit, the network announced that the beloved fantasy series will air an extended two-and-and-half hour finale on Monday, May 6. Shadowhunters, which is currently airing its final season, follows the adventures of half-angel, half-human demon hunters and their downworld allies. “Freeform has gifted us additional time for the finale,” showrunner Todd Slavkin tells EW. “It’s actually longer than two traditional episodes, which is a real gift because we shot those scripts and it turned into such great material. The network was so awesome to say, ‘We’re going to air more of it, you don’t have to cut it down.'”

Additionally, Freeform gave an update about some of the charitable work the show’s involved in. In honor of the show’s message of inclusion and acceptance, Shadowhunters fans raised money for The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people under 25. Freeform and its parent company, Disney, announced they have matched fan donations by giving The Trevor Project an additional $25,000.

Shadowhunters will air its finale on Monday, May 6 at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
