Brooklyn Nine-Nine: See Lin-Manuel Miranda in action as Amy's competitive brother

LMM, meet BNN.

Lin-Manuel Miranda — you may know him as the mastermind of Hamilton, a star of Mary Poppins Returns, or simply just a crazy-big fan of Brooklyn Nine-Nineis guest-starring on Thursday’s episode of NBC’s cop comedy. He plays David Santiago, brother of Amy (Melissa Fumero), who happens to be annoyingly successful and super competitive with his sibling, but, thankfully, Jake (Andy Samberg) is here to help Amy manage this fraught relationship.

Miranda was, of course, one of the high-profile celebrity fans (Mark Hamill, Sean Astin, etc.) who issued passionate support of Brooklyn Nine-Nine on social media after it was canceled by Fox last year. After NBC immediately rescued the show and ordered a sixth season, Brooklyn co-creator Dan Goor hinted at the possibility that some of these superfans might guest-star on the series, noting that “we’d love to try to figure out ways to put them on our world.”

Above, you can witness the collision of two worlds in this tense family dinner scene from the episode. When Amy’s mother raves, “You never cease to impress me, David,” dutiful husband Jake (Andy Samberg) jumps into action as Amy’s publicist, trumpeting her impressive accomplishments. Unfortunately, for every one of her gold stars, David just seems to have a platinum one.

See a sibling rivalry renewed in this exclusive clip from “The Golden Child,” which airs Mar. 7 at 9 p.m.
