Shaun stands up to Dr. Han in The Good Doctor clip: 'I'm a surgeon!'

Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) isn't taking no for answer!

The last time we checked on The Good Doctor, Shaun made it clear to Dr. Jackson Han (Daniel Dae Kim), the hospital's brash new chief of surgery, that he hated pathology and wanted to return to the surgical residency program. Although Han was impressed that Shaun spoke up for himself, he stood by his decision because he's convinced that Shaun's communication difficulties make him a liability. However, it seems as though Shaun isn't giving up.

In this exclusive clip from Monday's episode (the penultimate one of the season), the titular good doctor politely barges into Han's office after saving a patient and demands that Han give him his job back. Unlike the last time, Shaun doesn't back down and refuses to leave Han's office until he gets what he wants.

"I'm a surgeon," Shaun declares in the sneak peek.

Whether or not this bold gambit pays off remains to be seen, but you can expect the conflict between Shaun and Han to continue into the season finale, which airs the following Monday on March 11.

"In 217, the conflict between Shaun and chief of surgery Jackson Han comes to a head," Kim tells EW. "Shaun takes it upon himself to fight. The ramifications are what happen in the finale."
