It's a season of sequels for Mulder and Scully: Before The X-Files' iconic agents return to TV screens in early 2018, they're back in a follow-up to this summer's audio drama, Cold Cases.

In this exclusive clip from The X-Files: Stolen Lives, Mulder (David Duchovny) gives Scully (Gillian Anderson) the details on an investigation that seems to tie back to his father — by which he means the man who raised him, not his "old nemesis of the blackened lung." Over a clearly unimpressive burger, Scully encourages her partner to consult some familiar old friends.

Per Audible, Stolen Lives promises to shake up the agents' allegiances as they become "unknowing participants in a deadly game of deception and retribution, the stakes of which amount to the preservation of humankind." Like Cold Cases, the audio drama was adapted by Dirk Maggs from a series of graphic novels by Joe Harris, which was created with the direction of series creator Chris Carter. <iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/340043261%3Fsecret_token%3Ds-TecbT&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false" class="" allowfullscreen="" resize="0" replace_attributes="1" name=""></iframe>
