Connie Britton cast as lead in new Ryan Murphy drama

Connie Britton and Ryan Murphy are getting back together again to bring a new procedural drama to Fox.

The beloved star of Friday Night Lights and Nashville is reuniting with her American Horror Story and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story producer, to bring the midseason Fox series 9-1-1 to screens.

The show explores the tense and demanding world of the police, paramedics, and firefighters as they confront terrifying and dangerous situations on the job, as well as day-to-day struggles in their private lives.

Britton joins the already-cast Angela Bassett (BoJack Horseman, American Horror Story) and Peter Krause (Parenthood, The Catch) in her first role since she departed CMT’s Nashville after five years on the country music show.

Glee and Scream Queens co-creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk will executive-produce the new show for Fox. Tim Minear (Feud, American Horror Story) co-created the series and will also serve as showrunner.

The series is set to premiere in 2018.
