American Gods EP on what to expect in season 2: 'Be very worried for Shadow Moon'

After a season of worship on the altar of Media, American Gods has come to a close. The Starz series culminated in one final flurry that saw many of the show’s big-name deities — including Mr. Wednesday (a.k.a. Odin), Easter, Media, Mr. World, and Technical Boy — as well as Mad Sweeney and Laura Moon gather for a big confrontation in the middle of Easter’s big party.

So it’s only fitting that the final installment of EW’s American Gods: Inside the Episode features its longest roster of guests yet: actors Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, author Neil Gaiman, and executive producers Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. And, as a result, there was a lot to learn about how the cast and crew experienced the show in its debut season.

For Gaiman, one of the delights was people discovering the series and telling him — including another author. “I’ll go on Twitter and there’s Anne Rice going, ‘I just saw the first two episodes of American Gods, and now I’ve ordered the book,” shared Gaiman. “And I’m like, ‘Life goals done.”

They also shared some behind-the-scenes stories about Ricky Whittle’s (Shadow Moon) pranks.

“You wallpapered her trailer with your face,” Fuller said to the actor when asked if they had any fun interactions with guest star Kristin Chenoweth, who plays Easter. Pablo Schreiber replied, “He did that to a few people. It’s kind of his thing.”

Whittle joked back, “I just want people to make sure they know who I am!”

But it wasn’t all just a memory-filled walk through the season’s episodes. Fuller and Green also discussed what fans should be thinking of as they wait for season 2, with Fuller warning, “You should be very worried for Shadow Moon.”
