Ryan Murphy producing New York City-set drama Pose for FX

Ryan Murphy has positioned himself as one of the biggest names in television production, and he’s aiming to hit his mark once again with yet another new project.

The American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and Feud creator will produce a new non-anthology series for FX titled Pose, EW has confirmed, set to begin filming this October in New York City ahead of a planned premiere date in 2018.

Deadline, which first reported the news, reports longtime collaborators Murphy and Brad Falchuk will write the program with newcomer Steven Canals. Murphy is directing the first episode and will produce with Brad Simpson and Nina Jacobson.

Pose will be set in 1986 and examine “the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York City: the emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world,” according to Deadline.

Murphy is said to be seeking new and unknown actors to play the series’ lead roles.

Also on deck for Murphy’s future are the second and third seasons of American Crime Story — subtitled Katrina and Versace — as well as the seventh season of American Horror Story. In February, FX ordered a second installment of Feud, revolving around the story of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
