Bingeworthy: Season 2 of The Path is slow despite strong performances

The Path‘s second season is just a day away from its premiere, but Bingeworthy‘s Jessica Shaw won’t be one of the people eagerly awaiting new episodes.

“It’s a well enough constructed show,” says Shaw of her impression of the series. “[But] the show is dreadfully slow.”

Shaw points out that this criticism mirrors the reaction people had to the first season of The Path and his surprise steps weren’t taken to right the ship. “You would think that in Season 2, they would have sped things up and gotten to some action a little bit faster. But it doesn’t seem like they listened to that.”

Her co-host Touré agrees with her summation. “Part of the problem is that there’s not stakes. You feel like things are going faster when there are stakes… This world has no stakes. One of the big things in one of the episodes is ‘Will the leader go on television? Will he finally give an interview?’ Really? I need more.”

Season 2 of The Path premieres Jan. 25 on Hulu.
