Adam Sandler reacts to Oscars snub, congratulates his Waterboy 'Mama' Kathy Bates

Adam Sandler is looking at the positives of his Oscar nomination snub.

The Uncut Gems star didn’t hear his name called on Monday morning, and while we wait to see if he follows through with his threat to make a movie “so bad on purpose” (we have some ideas), Sandler reacted to the disappointing news with a positive take — and a congratulations to his The Waterboy “Mama,” Kathy Bates.

While Sandler was a snub on Monday, Bates was one of the surprises, earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination for playing Barbara Jewell in Richard Jewell.

Back in 1998, Bates played the mom to another Southern boy when she starred as the protective Mama Boucher opposite Sandler’s Bobby Boucher in The Waterboy, which did earn Sandler some awards love — unfortunately at the Razzies, though.

Bates responded to Sandler’s message by declaring her love for her former costar: “You was robbed!! But Mama loves you!!!”
