Brie Larson hugged Emma Stone after her best actress win

It's emotional.

Friends who win Best Actress Oscars together, stay together?

Brie Larson took to social media to congratulate her pal Emma Stone on her Best Actress Oscar win for La La Land, the same prize Larson took home in 2016 for Room.

“You know what’s better than winning? Watching your friends win,” Larson wrote on Instagram and Twitter, alongside an emotional photo of her hugging Stone.

The moment, which had Larson surprising Stone and Stone subsequently crying, was also captured on video, which Larson posted on Twitter with a caption filled with heartbreak emoji.

The latest friendship in the list of lady duos you’d love to go to brunch with first gained notice in 2016, when Larson, who was generating buzz for her role in Room at the time, told Entertainment Tonight she sought awards season advice from Stone.

“Emma Stone was kind of my mentor through this,” she told ET. “I’ve been texting with her and talking with her through this whole thing, and she just kept saying to me, ‘You’re inside the TV!’…She told me to wash my hands a lot, so I don’t get pink eye.”

In addition to Larson’s good wishes, Stone also found a fan in friend Adele, who posted a congratulatory message on social media.

“Ah Emma,” the singer wrote, giving a thumbs-up in front of an image of Stone accepting her award. “And Moonlight, congratulations so so wonderful.”
