Lady Gaga says Joe Biden is her 'new Pennsylvania guy' in electric campaign performance

Lady Gaga is popping a political 911 in support of Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris on the eve of the 2020 presidential election.

The Oscar-winning superstar took the stage Tuesday night at Biden's final campaign rally in Pittsburgh, Penn., where she performed hit songs and gave a speech one day before Americans head to the polls.

"This is a big one, Pennsylvania. So if you're here, you probably already believe in Joe Biden. I know I believe in Joe Biden," Gaga said just outside the city's Heinz Field stadium. "You probably already believe he's the right choice over Donald Trump. You don't need me to tell you why. Because, like me, you've experienced the last four years and have all the evidence you need to look at this choice and know in your heart, without any doubt, that Joe Biden is the right choice."

Later, Gaga returned to the stage to perform two hits: "Shallow" from A Star Is Born ("Who's off the deep end that Joe Biden needs to be president of this country?" she asked during the song), and her 2011 smash "Yoü and I," during which she proclaimed her deep admiration for the candidate while referencing her own ties to the state she used to live in.

"I was engaged to a man from Lancaster. I know, I know, it didn't work out. I loved him so much, it just did not work out," she said, referencing her relationship with actor Taylor Kinney. "But I still love my Pennsylvania guy. I love Joe. Joe's my new Pennsylvania guy, and I love nothing more than this moment, for this time, for you and I!"

During the song, Gaga changed the lyrics to fit the campaign, belting "there's something about, Joe, you and I" before defending herself from conservative detractors who criticized one of her recent videos, which showed her encouraging Americans to vote while she posed next to a pickup truck and drank a can of beer.

"I put some country clothes on the other day when I said I was voting for Joe, because I wear Cabela's when I'm on a four-wheeler in Pennsylvania, and I will not be told what I can and can't wear to endorse our future president," she said. "This is what I have to say about that: I might not always look like you, but I am you. We are each other!"

Earlier this week, Gaga expressed support for Biden and Harris over sitting President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence in a series of social media posts, musing on "what America looks like with a KINDER President" while encouraging people to vote.

She also responded to the Trump campaign's criticism of her stance on select issues in the 2020 election, including fracking: "GLAD TO BE LIVING RENT FREE in your HEAD," she tweeted Sunday alongside a screenshot of a Trump press release slamming her endorsement of Biden and Harris.

Gaga and Biden have a long history of friendship and collaboration, including Vice President Biden introducing the singer-songwriter's performance of her Oscar-nominated song "Til It Happens to You" at the 2016 Oscars. Gaga has also publicly supported Biden's It's On Us campaign against sexual assault.

"I LOVE THIS STATE. I'm here now!" Gaga tweeted Sunday upon her arrival in western Pennsylvania — a region she frequently visits, as she has family in nearby West Virginia. "This place is filled with good hearted people—good hearted people that @JoeBiden loves. He's a good friend. He's the President this country needs to bring us back together."
