Charlize Theron rules the pot business in red-band Gringo trailer

Charlize Theron is getting a little high on power. The Atomic Blonde star joins Selma‘s David Oyelowo, Bright‘s Joel Edgerton, Free Fire‘s Sharlto Copley, and Mamma Mia!‘s Amanda Seyfried in the first red-band trailer for Gringo, about a straight-shooting pharmaceutical company executive caught between a Mexican drug lord and his business partners in the marijuana industry.

While Oyelowo takes the lead role, Theron is ruling the board room as Elaine. Along with her cutthroat colleague Richard (Edgerton), she’s determined to get a bioengineered pot product called Cannabax (basically marijuana but in pill form) off the ground. Unbeknownst to Harold (Oyelowo), his bosses had been secretly selling some of their supply to the cartels — and when they stop, Harold gets kidnapped.

On top of that, poor Harold finds out Elaine and Richard were planning to fire him once they sold the company to a conglomerate, and his wife (Westworld‘s Thandie Newton) has been cheating on him. He’s having a bad time. Luckily, this is a dark-comedy, so the sequence of events becomes one big NSFW comedy of errors.

Copley portrays Mitch, Richard’s mercenary-turned-humanitarian brother tapped to extract Harold from the cartel, while Seyfried plays a kind-hearted American tourist with really bad instincts and a drug mule boyfriend (Penny Dreadful‘s Harry Treadaway).
