All eight Harry Potter films coming to HBO in January 2018

Ring in the new year with a 'Fantastic' marathon

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is already available to watch on HBO, but the rest of the Harry Potter cinematic family is coming to the Home Box Office network in 2018.

Beginning Jan. 1, all eight titles about the Boy Who Lived — from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 — will air on HBO. This marks the first time that all nine films will air unedited and without commercial interruptions on a television network, as well as stream on the same subscription streaming platform.

Potterheads will be able to stream the entire franchise through HBO GO, HBO NOW, HBO On Demand, and affiliate portals.

HBO will kick off the new year with a television marathon of the entire franchise, beginning with Sorcerer’s Stone on Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. ET/PT and ending with Fantastic Beasts in the early morning of Jan. 2. HBO Family will then loop back around to air one film a night, starting Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

NBC Universal previously announced the franchise — spin-offs included — would air across its network channels, including Syfy and USA, beginning in 2018. This deal, which includes ad-supported rights, doesn’t kick off until July 2018 and goes to 2025.

“We are delighted to welcome the Harry Potter films to our catalogue of award-winning original programming and crowd-pleasing theatrical films,” Bruce Grivetti, HBO’s executive vice president of business affair and president of film programming, said in a statement. “HBO has a long-standing reputation as the home of the best classic and recently released Hollywood movies, and having the Harry Potter franchise furthers our objective to bring quality entertainment to our subscribers across all of our platforms.”
