Kyle Chandler and Corey Stoll are preparing for liftoff.

Chandler has set a deal to play astronaut Deke Slayton in the moon-landing drama First Man, while Stoll is in talks to portray Buzz Aldrin, EW has confirmed.

Ryan Gosling is already on board to star as Neil Armstrong — the titular first man to walk on the moon — and his Oscar-winning La La Land director, Damien Chazelle, is helming the picture.

Based on James R. Hansen’s 2005 book of the same name and adapted by Josh Singer (Spotlight), First Man is to “explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on the nation — of one of the most dangerous missions in history,” according to a previous press release. The film is slated to hit theaters Oct. 12, 2018.
