Marilyn Manson is endlessly creepy in disturbing Let Me Make You A Martyr trailer

The latest trailer for Marilyn Manson’s new movie is sure to send a chill down your spine.

“You ever kill a man with your bare hands?” Manson, playing a hit man named Pope, says from the passenger seat of a moving car in the latest clip from Corey Asraf and John Swab’s thriller Let Me Make You a Martyr. His driver doesn’t answer. Pope continues: “Well, my daddy did. My daddy used to sing me a song, and it was: ‘I’m born to preach the gospel. I’m born to preach the gospel. I’m born to preach the gospel, and I sure do love my job.”

He continues, crooning, “Well I never been to no college, and I didn’t do good at school. Jesus Christ picked me to be the preacher, he sure didn’t pick no fool.”

As the car (and Pope’s song) comes to a halt, the vehicle’s other occupant poses a grim question, the answer to which remains shrouded in mystery. “You’re going to kill me in there, aren’t you?”

Asraf and Swab co-wrote the revenge thriller’s script, crafting a tale about two adopted siblings who maneuver a plot to murder their abusive father, Larry (Sons of Anarchy star Mark Boone Junior), while the patriarch has sinister plans of his own.

Though he established himself as a shock rocker with popular albums like Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals in the late ’90s, Manson has steadily increased the number of acting projects he’s taken on in recent years. He had smaller roles in Jawbreaker (1999), Party Monster (2003), and the Asia Argento-directed J.T. LeRoy adaptation The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004), and also appeared as an interviewee during a powerful sequence in Michael Moore’s 2002 documentary Bowling for Columbine. The 48-year-old recently recurred on WGN’s supernatural horror series Salem after landing a multi-episode arc on the final season of FX’s Sons of Anarchy in 2014.

Let Me Make You a Martyr enters limited release on May 25, and will expand to more theaters through June 9. It is also scheduled to debut June 6 on VOD. Watch the film’s new trailer above.
