Clear eyes, giant lizard, can't lose.

Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler is set to appear in Warner Bros. and Legendary's creature feature Godzilla: King of the Monsters, EW has confirmed.

The actor, known for playing the always inspirational Coach Taylor on FNL and favored son John Rayburn on Bloodline, joins Stranger Things breakout Millie Bobby Brown in the movie. Chandler will play the father of Brown's character, but further plot details have yet to emerge.

Michael Dougherty (Krampus) is directing King of the Monsters, a sequel to Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla reboot. Along with Kong: Skull Island (opening next month), King of the Monsters is expected to lay the groundwork for an eventual Godzilla vs. Kong showdown.

Variety first reported Chandler's casting.
